| HIT ODER SHIT
A game by Valentin Herman, published by Fanfor Verlag. Translated by Christopher Dearlove (Thanx). The Rules1. All cards are shuffled very well and put in the middle of the table. A pen and paper are needed. 2. Each player rolls a die. The highest number begins (starting player). 3. The player whose turn it is draws the top card from the deck and puts it in front of him. 4. The same player takes any number of dice with which he attempts to roll the number on the card exactly. He is only allowed one attempt. HIT: If he rolls the number exactly, he scores that many the points and it is the next players turn. SHIT: If he rolls over the target number, all points the over the target number count as negative and are subtracted from his score, which can become negative. The next Player can then choose dice and attempt to hit the number on the card. A card remains in the game until either positive points are scored or all Players have had a turn. Not yet decided: If the first player does not hit the number on the card but rolls under the number, the card stays in the game. The first player keeps the rolled dice in front of him. The following player may then attempt the to roll the difference between the first player's roll and the target number, where he also chooses a number of dice from those that remain. He adds his result to the previous one and proceeds as given under HIT or SHIT as appropriate. If a player's TOTAL roll is over the target number his roll is ignored for progress this round. He loses points. The dice he rolled are returned to the available stock. Each Player has only one attempt per round. If the target number (or the target difference) is exactly achieved by a player then the round ends immediately and the new round begins with the player to the left of the previous starting player. If no more dice are available, or all players have been once, the round ends and the Player closest to the target number (the player with the last valid roll) scores the sum of all valid dice showing. There are four different special cards. The special cards apply only to the starting player. When a special card is drawn, further cards are drawn until a number card appears (all further special cards drawn are ignored). 1. Red Card: The starting player rolls for the number card as usual. After his roll, he may decide to return one of the rolled dice to the stock or he may roll an additional die from the stock, put it in front of him and add it to his result. 2. Orange Card: The starting player rolls for the number card as usual. After his roll he may decide to add or subtract a single point from the result (or he may use his roll). 3. Yellow Card: The starting player draws an additional number card, so that he has two number cards in front of him. (Other special cards drawn are ignored as usual). He rolls as usual and decides after his roll for which card his roll was for. The other card is ignored. 4. Purple Card: The starting player rolls as usual. After his roll he may decide to use that roll or he may the repeat the entire roll. In the latter case he must use the second roll. Other RulesIf a player does not want to roll a difference, he can pass and the option passes to the next player. If the deck runs out reshuffle it and continue. Game EndThe game ends immediately a player has a score of 50 points. Optional RuleIf any dice fall off the table, lose 6 points. The complete roll is repeated. Example 1Player A is the starting player and draws a 12. He selects three dice and rolls 1, 3, 4 = 8. He leaves the three dice in front of him. The next player, B rolls one additional die, a 5. This is one point too many (8+5 equals 13). Player B loses one point. His die is returned to the available stock. Player C is next. He immediately takes one die and rolls a 3. The number 12 is still not hit (8+3 = 11). Player D is next. He passes. Player E passes immediately. Then Player C with 11 is closest to the 12 and all players have taken a turn, which ends this round and Player C scores 11 points. The starting player position shifts and the new round begins. Example 2Starting player A draws a yellow special card, the one which allows a
second number card to be drawn. He draws an additional special card. He
discards the second special card and draws another card, a 6. Then he
draws another number cards, and has two number cards, a 6 and an 11. He
rolls three dice and rolls 6,1,3 = 10. He discards the 6 card. The 11
card stays in the game. Player B passes. Player C rolls a 5. This loses
4 points for Player C (10+5 = 15). Player D rolls a 1. HIT (10+1 = 11,
exactly). The round ends and Player D scores 11 points.
